Chehalis-Centralia Steam Train - Washington, June 21, 2014

Sara likes steam trains, so we took her on a birthday excursion.

We took the longest,
1.5 hour route to Ruth, which wound West from I5, halfway between Portland and Seattle. We rode to Ruth going forward.
Then, the engine unhitched, went around us, and pulled us backward back to
the station.

It was a peaceful ride
with pretty scenery,
including the chance
to watch this bald eagle.
Exciting for Sara and me, who haven't
seen as many.
Serene for Wil
who sees them often.

On our return to Pendleton, we finally drove up the Washington side of the Gorge.  We've wanted to for years but were always on a schedule or the weather was gray.
This is the view from Cape Horn - magnificent!

I look like a cardboard cutout propped in front of the scenery.

Next stop - Newport.
